Do Motorsport:
Head fuming at Ralf and Juan
Motorsport.com -- Williams technical director Patrick Head is annoyed with Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya after their clash in the US Grand Prix yesterday. Going head to head into the first corner, the pair came to grief with the result of Schumacher losing his rear wing and Montoya dropping to seventh. Head was not impressed and although he would not say who was to blame, he was clearly not happy about the situation.
"I'm not into apportioning blame between the two of them," he said. "We've had some fantastic drivers in the past but they just haven't driven into each other. It's absolutely ridiculous. For the amount of effort that goes into this, to have that happen is completely unacceptable. We'll talk about it afterwards and try to sort out how it doesn't happen again."
After Schumacher pitted for a new rear wing he was left two laps down on the leaders and effectively out of the race. Montoya went on to take McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen but Head was bemused by the Colombian's first pit stop.
"He (Montoya) came into the pits for his pit stop when he had lots of fuel on board for many more laps, so why he came in we don't know. We'll have to look at it afterwards. Altogether we found the ways of doing it wrong. We should have had a good solid third and fourth here. We did everything to try and not get a podium."
Despite the in-team bickering, the result was enough to clinch Williams second in the Constructors' championship: only one race to go in Suzuka means Williams have already defeated Mclaren for the best of the rest.
O Patrick Head estava literalmente arrancando os cabelos ontem no paddock. O Ralf e o Montoya devem ter ouvido pouco...
